Alastair van Noordwyk - Village Manager

Alastair is originally from Natal and after matriculating at Tygerberg he went on to complete his three year Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management in Cape Town.  His work experience includes a hotel group in Natal, his own catering-related business, his family's boutique hotel and also running Theo's in Mouille Point for a number of months. Alastair originates from a family of hoteliers, with his parents, grand parents and great-grand parents all being involved in the hospitality industry. Alastair has been with Village & Life for 1 year, loves working with people and is known as a party animal. His personal motto is “Carpe Diem,” meaning “Seize the day,” as that is how he feels everyday, and believes that such a motto will go far to inspire success in the dynamic team of spirited individuals he works with at Village & Life.

Alan Hills - Residential Manager

Alan was born in Welkom and then later moved to Johannesburg. When he was 12, his family moved to Stellenbosch where he then went to school and matriculated at Paul Roos. Alan studied Engineering for 3 years but moved on to England where he played professional club soccer for 2 years. He then returned and started working for Village & Life. He has now been with the company for just over a year. Alan loves the outdoors, is very sporty and he still enjoys playing soccer and also does rock climbing.

 

Maya van der Poel - The Charles and De Waterkant House Manager

Maya van der Poel was born in the heart of the Cape Winelands. During her study of hospitality management, she fell in love with the industry. She started her career in Scotland, where she trained with one of the most renowned British restauranteurs, Terrance Conrad. She loves the personal connection that is created with every guest and knows that her passion would be fulfilled in a small intimate guest house, with a friendly and charming feel. Her mission is to draw together the different cultures into one big family.

 

Johann Beytell – Village Accountant

Johann Beytell

Johann has been with us for almost 2 years.  He was born in Oudtshoorn in 1981 and matriculated at Oudtshoorn High School.  After school Johann achieved his National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting at Cape Technikon and worked for two accounting firms before joining Village & Life in 2006.  Johann loves music, sport, the outdoors and spending time with friends over weekends.

Renier Snyman - Reservations Manager

Renier Snyman was born in and grew up in Pretoria, matriculating from Silverton High School.  He worked in HR for 15 years and also spent some time working in the cosmetics industry and has been with Village and Life for four and a half years.  Renier’s interests include reading, going to the gym, watching movies and of course, travel.

Patricia Voegt - Executive Housekeeper

Patricia Voegt was born in Bonteheuwel in Cape Town and spent her childhood there, matriculating from Garlandale High School.  Patricia is married and has two daughters, aged 13 and 2 years old.  Patricia enjoys reading and dancing and has been with Village and Life for two years.
