Director - Maree Brink
Maree Brink Maree was born in Quebec, Canada in 1963. He completed his schooling at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch. He attended Stellenbosch University where he obtained honours degrees in Commerce and Accountancy. Maree qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992. After five years with Price Waterhouse Coopers, Maree founded the Village & Life Group of Companies in 1994. Being an active sportsman, Maree plays tennis, is an enduro off-road motorbiking enthusiast and he jet ski’s and surfs as often as he can. Maree and his daughter, Emily, lives in Camps Bay.

Operations Manager - Richard Barrett
Richard Barrott

Having grown up mostly in Cape Town, Richard matriculated at Grey in PE. He then went on to study at Hotel Institute Montreux in Switzerland for 3 years. After graduating, he spent a lot of time in Europe, especially France, Spain, and Sweden as well as one year in the States. He returned to Cape Town in February 2009 and is excited to get his hands dirty.

Financial Manager - Debbie Mills

Debbie

Debbie matriculated from St John’s Diocesan School for Girls in Pietermaritzburg. After school she obtained her BComm Degree from the University of Port Elizabeth. She started working in Cape Town in 1997 in the finance field and after 3 years worked independently as a freelance accountant for 7 years. Debbie started at Village & Life in January 2009 as the accountant for Mouille Point & De Waterkant Villages. She lives in Camps Bay and is an abstract oil painter and she plays a couple of musical instruments, her favourite being the bongo drum.

Residential Manager - Carl Smith
Carl Smith

Carl Smith was born and raised in Klerksdorp. After matric he completed his studies in Hotel Management in Durban and went on to work for one of the largest tour operators in South Africa. In 2004 Carl relocated to Cape Town and continued to work in the tourism industry. Carl joined Village & Life in May 2010 as Assistant Village Manager.  He enjoys  South African history, reading and meeting new people.

Reservations Supervisor - Valencia Santi
Valentia

Valencia grew up in the heart of Cape Town and matriculated at Heideveld Senior Secondary School. After a short computer course she met her husband and moved to Heidelberg where she started her career in the tourism industry. Before joining Village & Life she worked intensively in F&B and reception. She is an outdoor person and loves spending time with her children.

Executive Housekeeper - Patricia Voegt

Patricia Voegt was born in Bonteheuwel in Cape Town and spent her childhood there, matriculating from Garlandale High School.  Patricia is married and has two daughters, aged 13 and 2 years old.  Patricia enjoys reading and dancing and has been with Village & Life for two years.

Assistant Executive Housekeeper - Nondumiso Plaatjie

Nondumiso was born in Queenstown in the Eastern Cape and matriculated in Isimela Comprehensive School in Langa, Cape Town. She then went on to further her tertiary education by doing her N4 & N5 in HR Management at Cape College and short course in Office Administration. She is married and has 2 children, aged 2 and 6. Nondumiso started working for Village & Life in 2001 as a housekeeper and worked her way up as the Assistant Executive Housekeeper. She likes going out with her children in her spare time.


Maintenance Technician - Marius Müller
Marius

Marius grew up in Stellenbosch, where he attended Paul Roos Gimnasium and futhered his studies at Boland College where he completed his N3 Electrical Course. After studies, Marius traveled to London where he worked at Charters Steam Fair and returned to South Africa in September 2008. He started at Village & Life in September 2009 at Winelands Golf Lodges as a handyman and now joins the De Waterkant Village team as the new Maintenance Manager. Marius looks forward to the challenges he has to face to make the Village the best that it could be and is prepared to work hard in getting things in order.

Maintenance Supervisor - Armstrong Stuurman
Armstrong

Armstrong was born in East London in the Eastern Cape and matriculated at Ebernezer High School. He came to Cape Town in 2003 and started working for Village & Life in April the same year as a gardener and pool cleaner. He is currently the Maintenance Supervisor. Armstrong enjoys playing rugby in his spare time. His goal is to reach a dynamic state of fulfillment and to always strive for knowledge, skills and new experience. He has 3 children aged 4, 16 and 21.


Corporate Sales - Alastair van Noordwyk
Alastair

Alastair is originally from Natal and after matriculating at Tygerberg he went on to complete his three year Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management in Cape Town.  His work experience includes a hotel group in Natal, his own catering-related business, his family's boutique hotel and also running Theo's in Mouille Point for a number of months. Alastair originates from a family of hoteliers, with his parents, grand parents and great-grand parents all being involved in the hospitality industry. Alastair has been with Village & Life for 2 years. His personal motto is “Carpe Diem,” meaning “Seize the day,” as that is how he feels everyday, and believes that such a motto will go far to inspire success in the dynamic team of spirited individuals he works with at Village & Life.
