Director - Roelof Troskie
Roelof

Roelof was born in Claremont in Cape Town in 1965. He completed his schooling at Groote Schuur High in Cape Town, before attending the University of Cape Town, earning his B-Com degree. Roelof qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 after completing his articles at Price Waterhouse Coopers. He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Law at the University of Cape Town. Roelof is a sports enthusiast and loves a round of golf, being a handicap of 11. He attends most rugby games at Newlands Stadium, and is actively involved at the Hamiltons Rugby Club in Green Point. Roelof has been involved in the tourism and hospitality industry since 1995 and he is chairman of the Waterfront Home Owners Association, Roelof is based at the Waterfront Village.


Front Office Manager - Shafieka Huynh
Shafieka Huynh

Shafieka grew up in Cape Town and matriculated in 1996. She started her working career at The Cape Swiss Hotel in 1998 and afterwards relocated to Johannesburg where she worked at The Protea Hotel Balalaika. Returing to Cape Town in 2004, she started working at The Bay Hotel in the Reservations Department, and later in 2008 as an Assistant Front Office Manager, until 2010, when she was transferred to The Farmhouse Hotel in Langebaan one of the groups sister hotels, until recently, when she was transferred to De Waterkant Village. Shafieka has traveled to countries like Malaysia, Singapore and has visited Vietnam twice. Shafieka loves socializing with friends, spending quality time with family, and is a keen Belly Dancer.

Reservations Consultant - Gillian Smith
Gillian

Gillian matriculated from Bergvliet High School. After graduating from the International Hotel School she moved to England for a year.  In 2009 she joined Village & Life as a Reservations Consultant and early in 2010 Gillian decided to spread her wings again and travelled abroad for a couple of months. She enjoys socializing, extreme sports and adventures and lives in Kirstenhof.

Executive Housekeeper - Patricia Voegt

Patricia Voegt was born in Bonteheuwel in Cape Town and spent her childhood there, matriculating from Garlandale High School.  Patricia is married and has two daughters, aged 13 and 2 years old.  Patricia enjoys reading and dancing and has been with Village & Life for two years.

Maintenance Supervisor - Armstrong Stuurman
Armstrong

Armstrong was born in East London in the Eastern Cape and matriculated at Ebernezer High School. He came to Cape Town in 2003 and started working for Village & Life in April the same year as a gardener and pool cleaner. He is currently the Maintenance Supervisor. Armstrong enjoys playing rugby in his spare time. His goal is to reach a dynamic state of fulfillment and to always strive for knowledge, skills and new experience. He has three children aged 4, 16 and 21.


Financial Manager - Liezl Human
Liezel Human

Liezl has been with Village & Life since 2007. She was born in Fort Beaufort and attended school in Somerset West at Parel Vallei High School. After school, Liezl achieved her National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting at Stellenbosch . She left for the UK a few months after that and worked in London for 2 years at Blackstone Investment Company as accountant.  While in the UK Liezl frequently traveled and definitely found the ‘travel bug’.  Liezl loves to ride horses, read, explore the country and spend time with friends and family.
